A Brief Bio

I have always used words to tease apart my thoughts and dive deeper into the meaning of things. For many years writing songs provided the best outlet for my feelings and I was lucky enough to be in a "girl band" with two good friends. We were all mothers in our 40s and had a blast harmonizing and creating layers of sound with vocals, keyboard, flute, and guitar.
For almost twenty years I lived a mile up a foot trail next to a wilderness area in far northern California. My first husband and I, along with a good friend, created a remote homestead there built entirely by hand, each piece hauled up the mountain on our backs. We were determined and a bit possessed, but we created the slow life we had envisioned, immersed in nature's frequency - a sublime environment in which to raise and homeschool a child.
We all have many lives within one lifetime. My husband and I got divorced, and I tore myself away from the life I loved. Suddenly I was "civilized" - I lived in a house on the grid with a driveway, a toilet, and hot running water. Despite this unpalatable change, I managed to land jobs in the wilderness, my place of solace.
Eighteen years ago I met Juan and decided to create a new life with him in a tiny town in the mountains of Montana. At that point, I chose to put my guitar down in order to focus my energy on the craft of writing memoir.
Juan and I lived together in Montana for seventeen years. Recently we decided that in order to have time to create, play, and spend time with family and friends we needed to get out from under our mortgage and minimize our stuff. So we honed down our belongings, sold our house, and moved into a truck camper - our new home. We drove out our driveway for the last time on February 7, 2020.
We are on the road now, creating our art, running Juan's Photography, proofreading court transcripts, and playing!
